What is the Centre of Love? A Vision for a Unified World of Goodness.
In a world that yearns for peace, justice and harmony, there remains one essential question: What is the centre of love? How can we build a world of enduring goodness when so much around us is fragmented and uncertain?
Rev. Dr Sun Myung Moon, a spiritual teacher and global peacebuilder, proposes a profound response. To create a true spiritual reformation—a shift not only in practice but in being—we must return to the original source of love and life itself.
The standard of goodness is not a passing ideal; it is rooted in the very nature of the One who existed before the cosmos. Only by aligning ourselves with that eternal source can we realise a world of peace and fulfilment.
The Origin of Love and the Nature of Goodness
True goodness begins with love and love itself must have a centre. Not just any love, but the kind that endures beyond time and place—a love that is selfless, creative and life-giving.
That centre is the Creator: the unique, eternal Being who brought the universe into existence. The essence of this Being is heart—not emotion in a fleeting sense, but heart as the deepest wellspring of love and purpose. From this original heart, the cosmos emerged. From it, human life was formed. Where there is heart, life appears. And where life appears, the potential for growth, development and creativity follows.
But creation requires more than action—it needs intention. At the core of all existence is purpose, and that purpose is joy. Joy is the fulfilment of the heart’s desire, and for the divine source, that joy is found when human beings reflect its nature—when we embody both love and creativity in harmony.
The Ideal World: Humanity’s True Home
The ideal world—the one longed for by both the divine and the human heart—is not imaginary. It is the original home intended for humanity. It is a world of joy, a society shaped by love and sustained by creative living.
This ideal does not belong to one religion or one nation. It is inscribed in every soul. People seek happiness because happiness is our original design.
We yearn for unity because unity is our spiritual DNA.
Even in today’s fractured world, humanity mirrors the divine creative impulse through astonishing scientific and technological advancements. In this way, we have begun to resemble the Creator’s capacity to shape and transform the world.
Yet, we have not yet learned how to reflect Divine Love. That is why, despite our progress, suffering continues.
The Missing Piece: Learning to Live with Love
What Has the Power to Create a Unified World of Goodness? This text offers 7 Ways God-Centred Love Can Lead Us to Lasting Peace.
Love is more than sentiment. It is action, commitment and daily practice. It is expressed through a life of goodness—a life that uplifts others and seeks the well-being of all. To live this way, we must anchor our moral compass in the origin of love.
Only a standard that is unchanging and eternal can give rise to lasting peace. The Divine Heart offers that standard! It is the centre that allows us to live with integrity, compassion and a sense of higher purpose. Without this grounding, values shift, societies become unstable, and true peace remains out of reach.
When we embrace the source of love as our moral and spiritual guide, an absolute value can be established—one that transcends culture and time. On this foundation, a world of peace, dignity and mutual respect can emerge.
Creating a World of Harmony and Innovation
Human beings were not created to live in conflict. The ideal is for us to live in harmony—loving while creating and creating while loving. This harmony reflects the unified nature of the One who gave us life.
Yet love requires more than good intentions. It needs structure, ethics and order. Without these, relationships break down and societies struggle. For a life of love to thrive, clear norms must be in place—principles that guide human behaviour and protect the dignity of all people.
These norms are not meant to limit us. Rather, they liberate us to love more deeply and act more meaningfully. They take shape in the form of morality and ethics that are relevant to contemporary society, yet rooted in unchanging truth.
In today’s world, many traditional moral systems have lost their influence. Materialism, individualism and relativism have led to confusion about what is right and good. To rebuild a shared moral framework, we must express timeless values in new and accessible ways.
Restoring What Was Lost
The world we live in today is far from what was originally intended. Pain, injustice and division dominate many parts of life. But the desire to heal, restore and live better is strong in every human heart.
This longing points back to our true nature—created to resemble the Divine. To restore what was lost, we must rediscover our original value and live it in practice! This begins by identifying an absolute standard of goodness and living according to it. That standard, again, is found in the source of love.
Despite all that has gone wrong, we are not without hope. The unified world is still within reach. It will be built by people who live creative lives guided by love, and by societies that value ethics rooted in something greater than personal subjective opinion.
A New Framework for Global Ethics
Throughout history, religions and philosophies have contributed valuable insights to human development. Each carried elements of truth and offered guidance for ethical living. However, many have struggled to keep pace with the needs of modern life.
Today’s world needs a new system of thought—one that honours the wisdom of the past while offering clear, unified values for the future. Rev. Moon presents Unification Thought as this new framework. It brings together the strongest elements of previous moral systems and expresses them in a way that meets contemporary needs.
When people live by a coherent and elevated moral framework rooted in absolute values, a new kind of society can emerge—a unified world of goodness, never seen before in human history.
The Future Is Love Centred on Heart
The original world intended for humanity is not beyond our reach. It is built by people who reflect God’s nature. People who live with purpose, love, and a commitment to creating beauty in all things.
Such individuals become the cornerstone of a new world. In their homes, communities and nations, we see the beginning of lasting peace. Their love heals wounds. Their creativity uplifts others. Their moral clarity lights the path forward.

The world we desire—the world our children deserve—will not come from technology alone, nor from temporary policies. The world we desire will be born from the hearts of people centred on the eternal source of love. Only then can all sorrow, division and suffering be left behind, and a new era of joy, harmony and peace truly begin.
